Amsterdam, June 18, 2024 – The Dutch Energy Tech company Soly is expanding to Austria and appoints Christian Strobl as Country Manager. Austria is the seventh market in which Soly operates. It marks the next step in the company's growth trajectory as a leading player in solar energy, home batteries and charging stations.
Strobl brings with him extensive experience. Prior to joining Soly, he held the position of Austrian market lead for Berlin-based digital bank N26 and led its Vienna office. Earlier in his career, he worked as a strategy consultant at Strategy& where he advised international clients on digitalisation and innovation projects. With an academic background in strategy and innovation, Strobl studied in Vienna, Copenhagen, Beijing and Vancouver. So, he is now using his expertise to strengthen Soly's position as a forerunner in solar energy, home batteries and charging stations.
Strobl: "We are excited to provide solar power to more Austrian households, contributing to a more sustainable future for the country and reduced dependence on foreign energy sources. The recent abolition of VAT at the beginning of the year has created considerable momentum in the market, which makes us optimistic about the growth opportunities and acceptance of solar energy in Austria."
Patrick van der Meulen, founder and CEO at Soly: “We are excited to expand our affordable energy solutions to Austria. It is a market with enormous potential. The rapid rollout of smart meters enables Austrian homeowners to profit from our Soly Brain technology in combination with smart energy tarrifs. With a 0% VAT on solar installations, it is financially extremely attractive to switch to solar and batteries. We are pleased to welcome Christian as our Austrian Country Manager, and we are looking forward to building our local team in Vienna.”
Energy company of the future
Strobl's appointment is in line with Soly's strategy of further growth and professionalisation. Soly recently raised a capital injection of 30 million euros and has expanded internationally to Italy, South Africa, Belgium, Germany and the UK. Through rapid international expansion, new products and its proprietary software platform, Soly aims to supply over 500,000 households and businesses with renewable energy by 2030.
