Amsterdam, January 16, 2025 – Energy company Soly and wholesaler VDH Solar have signed a distribution agreement. This partnership allows VDH Solar to offer the energy management system, the Soly Brain, along with the associated energy contract, to consumers through its network of installation partners. Over the coming months, thousands of Soly Brains are expected to be installed as a result.
Open Energy Management System
Last summer, Soly announced its intention to open its energy management system to the market. "More than 3 million homes in the Netherlands already have solar panels, installed by thousands of different installers. These systems generate solar power but lack intelligent management. Currently, consumers are at the mercy of energy companies, many of which impose large feed-in penalties. We aim to change this," said Milan van der Meulen, co-founder of Soly.
Smart Management
The solar panel market is facing significant uncertainty, leading to a sharp decline in demand. Miranda van Nouwen, CEO of VDH Solar, commented: "Solar panel owners are dealing with feed-in costs, limited options for fixed contracts, and changes to the net metering scheme. Some turn to home batteries, but these are still too expensive for many. The Soly Brain, combined with a dynamic energy contract, can reduce feed-in costs and optimize savings based on dynamic electricity rates. This allows our installation partners to deliver greater value to consumers."
Brand-Agnostic Solution
The Soly Brain can control solar panel inverters, home batteries, and EV chargers based on dynamic electricity rates. It also helps customers maximize their use of self-generated solar energy. Van der Meulen added: "We are now compatible with dozens of different brands, making it highly likely that the Soly Brain can be integrated into existing systems."
For Installers
Interested installers can contact VDH Solar to purchase the Soly Brain. After installation, the end-user subscribes to Soly for €12.99 per month. Additionally, customers can opt for a dynamic energy contract.
